Deal to sign Liverpool player ‘finalised during the night’ – Huge claim on Reds exit

Earlier today, we covered a reported from Corriere dello Sport which mentioned the big gap between what Napoili want to pay for Darwin Nuñez and what Liverpool desire.

It is believed that the Italian giants are trying to seek a major discount for the Uruguayan and are not looking to offer anything beyond €40m, whereas Liverpool hope for around €70m.

Now, there’s been something of a wild claim.

Ruleta Sport journalist Gerardo Fasano reports Nuñez’s exit from Liverpool has edged closer and only the final details of a transfer to Napoli are being defined.

He claims, as relayed by AreaNapoli, that the striker will sign a three-year deal with the Partenopei and there is an option for a fourth season.

Liverpool and Napoli are said to have reached a rough agreement for a fee of €45m plus bonuses of €5m and all of this was ‘finalised during the night’. Now, only the minor details of the switch are missing and they are being ironed out.

Making lofty and overly optimistic claims is not new for the Naples press and this could be a case of that. Napoli are covered perhaps more, and with more passion, than any other Serie A side, and that means there’s always a desire to be first.

Given Corriere dello Sport state the gap between the two clubs is around €30m, it’ll surely take some more negotiating.
