Romano Provides New Update On Sensational "Swap Deal" Involving £70M Rated Man United Star

**Manchester United are “not negotiating a swap deal” with Chelsea at the present time, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.**

There have been several sources suggesting that Christopher Nkunku could make the switch to Old Trafford, with Alejandro Garnacho moving in the other direction.

However, Romano has made it clear that the two clubs are not currently holding formal talks regarding a player exchange:

“As of tonight, guys, I can tell you that concrete negotiations between Chelsea and Man United for Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku are still not taking place.”

“My understanding is that the two clubs are fully aware of the situation, yes, but they’re not negotiating a swap deal at the moment. No club-to-club contact, also no personal terms agreed between any of the parties involved.”

Man United are interested in Nkunku

[**Reports**](https://manunews.com/blog/man-united-transfer-news-christopher-nkunku/) in the French media over the past couple of days have revealed that the Red Devils have reached out to the 27-year-old’s entourage.

However, it looks like things have not progressed beyond an initial enquiry at this stage. Even so, United’s interest in Nkunku is longstanding. They first looked into signing the forward last summer.

Garnacho’s asking price could be an obstacle

--------------------------------------------

Up until now, the Argentinian’s valuation has remained at £70m, which is not a figure that interested teams, including Chelsea, are willing to pay.

Garnacho has a lot of potential. He is 20 years of age and would go down as pure profit on the balance sheet as he came through the club’s academy, so you can understand why the club are demanding top dollar for him.

However, the player has fallen out with Amorim and clubs are aware that United want to sell him. At some point, they may well have to lower their demands to ensure he leaves Manchester before the end of the summer.
