Nottingham Forest turn down Newcastle’s huge offer for Anthony Elanga

Nottingham Forest have rejected a £45 million bid from Newcastle United for Anthony Elanga, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

“The bid was tabled this morning but was rejected without a counter,” Ornstein reported. “Forest have no intention of selling their winger.”

Elanga, 23, played in all 38 Premier League matches last season, scoring six goals and registering 11 assists as Forest finished seventh and secured a place in the Europa Conference League. Elanga has three years remaining on his contract and remains a central figure in Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

Newcastle submitted the offer as they continue searching for a right-sided attacker ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Elanga joined Forest from Manchester United in 2023 for £15 million. A key part of Forest’s attack, he has 11 goals in 83 club appearances and four goals in 21 caps for Sweden. His speed, versatility, and performance under Nuno have made him a target for Newcastle, but for now, Forest are holding firm.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail confirmed the rejected bid and noted that Forest will not consider a sale unless offers exceed £50 million.

Last summer, Newcastle proposed a deal worth around £45 million for Elanga, which included £30 million in cash, a £5 million valuation for Miguel Almirón—who has since joined Atlanta United—and £10 million in performance-based add-ons. That offer was also turned down.

Newcastle are now assessing whether to return with an improved bid or turn their attention to other targets. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus are among the other names under discussion, according to the aforementioned reports.
