Hammers need to make decision on stricken Brazilian frontman

The background noise this week makes it pretty clear that [West Ham’s](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-linked-9-million-defensive-midfielder-is-right-on-the-money/) midfield makeover is in the pipeline if not actually  on paper yet. Whether it be a Kudus part exchange that brings in fresh blood or cash from the Nayef Aguerd sale, the same half dozen young, pacy, mobile (hurrah) midfielders are being named again and again. We can but hope that even the West Ham board can’t cock them all up.

Without wishing to put a damper on things before a single transaction has even been inked, am I the only one looking in vain for a striker to even be ‘linked’ with the Hammers this summer? Apart from young Daniel Cummings, due on 1st July, the front line has a 32 year old. And nobody else.

The bad luck encountered by Hammers’ target Brazilian **Yuri Alberto** who fractured his back has certainly put West Ham in a dodgy situation as elsewhere other goals corers get snapped up. To put Alberto’s injury in context, Brazilian legend Neymar fractured a vertebrae in 2014 and he came back fine in six weeks. Stick or twist time for the Hammers who reportedly agreed personal terms with Alberto weeks ago.

But there must be a ‘plan B’to bring in other front men. West Ham simply cannot endure another Premier League campaign with Jarrod Bowen acting as a stand-in. Just a couple of weeks remain before training starts again in July, and well we remember how Graham Potter wanted to get his team together for a ‘proper preseason’. Tick tock.
