Claudio Echeverri scored his first Manchester City goal against Al Ain but then came off injured and is now being assessed by the club's medical team.
Claudio Echeverri celebrates scoring against Al Ain in the Club World Cup
Claudio Echeverri is in a protective boot as Manchester City's medical staff assesses the ankle injury he sustained in Sunday night's Club World Cup win against Al Ain.
The Argentine scored his first goal for the club in the 6-0 victory, bending in a free-kick from 20 yards, but his right ankle buckled when an opposition defender fell on him during the first half.
Echeverri continued until half-time, but he was substituted at the break and is now wearing a protective boot and walking with the aid of crutches as the damage is assessed by medics in the United States.
The 19-year-old looks likely to miss the Group G decider against Juventus in Orlando on Thursday, and his fitness situation could become clearer when Pep Guardiola holds his next press conference.
The City boss is set to speak to the media at the Camping World Stadium late Wednesday night, UK time, as he previews the clash with Juventus, which will decide who progresses to the last-16 as group winners.
Echeverri was signed in January 2024 but only linked up with his new teammates in January of this year, after remaining on loan with River Plate in his native Argentina. He made his debut as a substitute in the FA Cup final and was set to play a more prominent part in the Club World Cup.

Guardiola praised Echeverri's free-kick - and the practice he has put in on them - after the Al Ain game in Atlanta, when discussing his half-time withdrawal.
"It's a pity for the twist," said Guardiola. "[It]s a little bit sore. It was a problem at half-time, that's why he could not continue but he has big talent in small space and a great goal.
"Last season when he arrived after every training session he practised free-kicks alone, so always works pay of. If he scores a goal, it's because he practises."
