Di Marzio: Liverpool winger Chiesa on Milan’s radar – what needs to happen first

Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa is on AC Milan’s list of targets for the attacking department.

Chiesa decided to try a new adventure in the Premier League, joining Liverpool last summer after having been essentially frozen out by Juventus. He won the title in his first campaign overseas but did not play much under Arne Slot, leading to reports that he might look to come back to Serie A.

Sure enough, the 27-year-old is among the various current and former Juventus players that have been touted to reunite with Massimiliano Allegri at Milan, along with the likes of Adrien Rabiot, Dusan Vlahovic and Andrea Cambiaso.

Di Marzio confirms Chiesa links

During the Sky programme Calciomercato L’Originale, Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews) spoke about Chiesa’s future. He confirmed that Napoli are the only club to make a concrete move so far, but threw Milan’s name into the mix.

“I think that Milan could also be interested in Chiesa but only in the event of the departure of a winger, such as Chukwueze or Okafor. Leao and Pulisic remain central,” he said.

Things are quiet on the Chukwueze and Okafor exit front, even if there has been talk of interest from LaLiga for the former and from South America for the latter.
