It looks like Newcastle United will soon make a big play to keep Alexander Isak on Tyneside, not just for this summer but for many seasons to come.
In an exclusive by [The Times’](https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/newcastle-united-alexander-isak-contract-liverpool-arsenal-m3q7cxw8k) Martin Hardy, it’s revealed that Newcastle will offer a new deal to the Swede to make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
Isak still has three years left on his contract and the club are under no pressure to sell from a PSR perspective, but the report does highlight that Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona have all shown interest in the 25-year-old.
Newcastle believe Liverpool could come forward with a big offer early next month and the club are keen to end any exit talk by offering him significantly improved terms.
To reward his 23 goal season over the 2023/24 campaign and his 62 strikes since signing in a £63m move from Real Sociedad three years ago, he will be offered a bumper deal that sees his salary go beyond the £150,000 mark.
The Times report that this would move him past current top earners such as Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimarães and Anthony Gordon, and may even see us break our current wage structure to fight off rival interest.
PIF have no interest in selling the striker and Eddie Howe has no plans to lose a player he’s developed into one of the best forwards in world football as we head towards a Champions League campaign.
Instead, the club plan to build from a position of strength, with the arrival of a right winger, versatile forward, centre-back and goalkeeper all featuring high on our summer shopping list.
