Doncaster Rovers sign Spurs forward Ajayi on season-long loan

Doncaster Rovers have signed forward Damola Ajayi on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Ajayi began his footballing journey at Bromley before moving to Spurs in 2022. Two years later, the 19-year-old signed his first professional contract with the club.

He scored 19 goals in 42 appearances for Tottenham’s Under-18 side before progressing to the Under-21s.

Having been named as a substitute for the senior side in the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup, he scored his first goal for the club on his debut against IF Elfsborg in the Europa League.

Speaking to doncasterroversfc.co.uk, Ajayi said he is looking forward to his first loan move.

“I’m really pleased,” Ajayi said.

“This is a top club that has just had a great season and I’m ready to kick on.

“I feel like I can see what Rovers are trying to build and I feel like they’re heading in the right direction. It would be good to be a part of something big, with them having won the league last season.”

Doncaster manager Grant McCann added: “Damola is a very exciting player that we are delighted has chosen us.

“He’s a player highly thought of at Spurs and can play off the sides in our front three or as an attacking 10. He makes good decisions, has lovely balance and change of pace.

“Huge thanks to Spurs and the good relationship we have with them for helping us bring Damola to Doncaster Rovers.”
