Paul Pogba set to join Ligue 1 side

Manchester United’s midfield rebuild continues to dominate headlines as Ruben Amorim prepares for his first full pre-season in charge.

The Portuguese manager is expected to make several key decisions in the coming days, with a number of first-team players returning to Carrington soon.

While transfer rumours swirl around possible midfield arrivals, some former United names are also making noise in the European market.

One former Red Devil, long out of the headlines, has now re-emerged with a surprising twist.

Paul Pogba, once the most expensive player in Manchester United’s history, has reportedly reached a full verbal agreement to join AS Monaco.

According to Fabrizio Romano via X, the Frenchman has finalised terms on a deal that would keep him at the Principality-based club until June 2027.

The contract is now in the hands of legal representatives for review, with Paul Pogba expected to fly out to Monaco within the next 24 hours to complete the formalities.

Medical tests have been scheduled for later this week, pending final clearance.

Pogba, who recently turned 32, is currently a free agent following his contract termination at Juventus after a doping scandal that led to a lengthy suspension.

His last appearance on a football pitch came on 3 September 2023, meaning the former World Cup winner has been out of competitive action for nearly two years.

Once considered among the brightest midfielders in world football, Pogba’s career has been blighted by injuries, inconsistency and controversy since his 2016 return to Old Trafford.

His second spell at Manchester United ended in 2022, with the club opting not to renew his contract following another turbulent season.

The move to Monaco is seen as a fresh start for the midfielder, who will now look to rebuild his career in Ligue 1 — the same league he left as a teenager when he first joined United.

Whether United fans view his resurgence as a missed opportunity or a distant memory remains to be seen, but Pogba’s next chapter is now set to begin back home in France.
