The latest update from Pedullà on Caughtoffside is that negotiations between the two clubs have continued in recent hours and are still ongoing, with the Partenopei working to match the Reds’ asking price.

As we already reported on Football Italia, Napoli are ready to invest circa €42m to sign the 26-year-old striker, but Liverpool’s asking price is €8m more, including add-ons.

Napoli are working with no breaks to sign the Uruguay international and have put talks for any other target in attack, including Lorenzo Lucca, on hold.

Napoli have already secured the services of Kevin De Bruyne and Luca Marianucci and are on the verge of signing Noa Lang from PSV.
