Aston Villa midfielder Enzo Barrenechea has made it clear that he would like to return to Valencia this summer.
That’s [according to Orgullo Biri](https://orgullobiri.com/12-millones-sobre-la-mesa-para-cerrar-el-fichaje-de-barrenechea/), who say the 24-year-old would like to remain with Valencia following his successful loan spell at the club this season.
He was a key player under Carlos Corberán after signing on loan from Aston Villa and would like to remain with them, as he’s comfortable in the city and motivated by the project under the Spanish boss.
He’s expressed his desire to continue to Aston Villa. They, though, are asking for €12m for him, a figure that is difficult for Valencia to pay given their perilous finances. They’re negotiating with Aston Villa to try and find a solution.
They want to explore the different options with Aston Villa and a new loan with an option to buy is on the table. Aston Villa don’t consider the midfielder as part of their plans and would like to sell to help their own balance sheet.
Atlético Madrid and Inter Milan have expressed interest too, but the midfielder’s preference is to stay at Valencia. Any decision, therefore, will rest on their ability to negotiate with Aston Villa.
We would point out that just yesterday [it was reported](http://sportwitness.co.uk/white-flag-being-raised-on-signing-aston-villa-player-monchi-words-seen-as-key/) that Valencia were practically raising the white flag on signing Barrenechea. That was because they’d taken note of comments from Monchi, which had offered them little encouragement.
Now it appears that Barrenechea’s stance has encouraged them to keep going and we may be set for a long, drawn-out process as the Spanish side try to find a deal that Aston Villa will accept.
