Aston Villa ace gives insight into Marcus Rashford as a teammate, Man Utd outcast led by example

Marcus Rashford left a good impression on his Aston Villa teammates, despite his season ending prematurely due to injury.

The 2024/25 season is one that most Manchester United fans will want to forget.

United lost the Europa League final before finishing 15th in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim endured a difficult first six months in charge at Old Trafford, but he is desperate for results to improve ahead of his first full season at United.

The United head coach cast Marcus Rashford aside last term before deciding to send him away on loan. He doesn’t have a future at Old Trafford as a result, with Barcelona linked with a loan move.

However, United want to sell Rashford in a permanent deal, which means Barcelona’s proposal is far from ideal.

Rashford’s dream is to join Barcelona, but his future is still uncertain.

Amadou Onana praises Marcus Rashford

Unai Emery was happy with Rashford’s performances last season, despite opting not to take up the option to sign the forward for £40 million.

Villa can be excused for pulling out after missing out on Champions League football.

One Villa player who will be disappointed with the decision not to sign Rashford is midfield ace Amadou Onana.

Onana hails Rashford as “refreshing” and a “humble guy” after watching him score four goals and provide six assists in 17 games for the Villains.

Speaking on The Inside Scoop, Onana described Rashford: “Refreshing bro.

“You know when someone touches the ball, you can tell they’ve been there, they’ve played at the highest level. If you remember the PSG (vs) United [game] back then, that Marcus Rashford.

“And with some of the things he does, you just know, ‘Yeah, you’ve been there. You know what you’re doing and you know what you’re talking about.’ Really, really cool guy. Humble guy.

“It’s a pleasure to share the dressing room with people like that, you know? Cause he’s a good guy, and an amazing player – and someone that I personally, in my young age, can learn a lot from.”

This should be music to the ears of Rashford’s potential suitors.

Rashford has shared training updates from his holidays this summer.

Gary Lineker was the last Englishman to play for Barcelona

Not a single Englishman has played for Barcelona since 1989.

Gary Lineker starred for Barcelona from 1986 to 1989, scoring 52 goals in 138 games and winning two trophies – the Copa del Rey in 1988 and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1989.

Now, Rashford has a chance of becoming the next England international to star for Barcelona.

It depends on whether Barcelona’s interest intensifies to a point where they can reach an agreement with United.
