David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Arsenal are exploring a deal to sign Christian Norgaard from Brentford, and the Gunners have submitted an initial bid of €11m (£9.3m) for the midfielder.

Arsenal are currently awaiting a response to their bid, but Ornstein reports that the player himself is keen on the move.

Ornstein adds that Norgaard is one of multiple options for Arsenal as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey, whose contract expires next Monday.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Brentford want more than Arsenal’s €11m bid, but talks continue, and Norgaard does want to join.

This all follows initial claims from Norgaard’s home country of Denmark, with Mads Glenn Wehlast reporting for Bold.dk that Arsenal had submitted a bid and hoped to quickly reach an agreement.

Though Wehlast added that Brentford aren’t hugely keen to let go of their captain, having already lost their manager to Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The ball is currently in their court, as Norgaard is under contract until 2027.

Arsenal are already signing Martin Zubimendi in the same position as Norgaard, but with the possibility that both Jorginho and Partey leave in the same summer, it’s no surprise the Gunners are looking to make two signings.

Norgaard is clearly one option, with Lucien Agoume of Sevilla also linked in recent days. Partey’s departure isn’t yet confirmed, but Arsenal’s bid for Norgaard suggests things are moving in that direction now.
