United have already signed Matheus Cunha in their attack and are closing in on Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo this summer. However, they will operate behind the main striker in a 3-4-2-1 formation under Amorim, and United lack a reliable striker.
Both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have failed to establish themselves at the club under Amorim, showcasing inconsistencies in performance. While recent reports suggest that Hojlund could stay at United, Amorim still needs a strong and reliable number nine striker.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Sporting CP star Gyokeres prefers Arsenal over United due to the Champions League football that the Gunners can offer to the 27-year-old. He said:
“Viktor Gyokeres. His priority remains Arsenal. He wants to go to Arsenal; he wants to play Champions League football with Arsenal. He never rejected Manchester United, but he told Manchester United that his priority will be Arsenal.”
Gyokeres enjoyed most of his success during Amorim’s tenure at Sporting Lisbon, where he contributed 125 goals and assists from 102 appearances. However, the Sweden international is currently battling his parent club as they have raised his valuation to £84m.
