Man Utd have lined up five transfers that could all be completed next week

Manchester United do not usually get going with player sales until July, but even then, this is a club with a poor reputation when it comes to generating funds through those means. Over the last five years, United have generated £105.5million from player sales. In comparison, Chelsea have recorded £508.6m in profit, while Manchester City's figure sits pretty at £435.8m.

So Ruben Amorim and the new football leadership team find themselves in a sticky situation whereby they are relying on sales to fund further, desperately needed, recruits. However, as one annual PSR window closes and another opens when the clock strikes midnight on July 1 next week, United are positioned to benefit from an expected flurry of activity.

There is currently a feeling of calm before the storm in the transfer market as the calendar edges closer to that layover, which will offer clubs financial relief in their bids to adhere to regulations.

Liverpool and Manchester City have been active, while Chelsea and United are also among those to have completed business so far.

Done deals have seemed scarce, though. That should be about to change as preparations for the new season ramp up in July, and United are ready to pounce.

Bryan Mbeumo looks almost certain to become Amorim's second summer addition after Brentford received an improved bid worth over £60m last weekend.

United will plan to secure the 25-year-old forward's services before pre-season training commences on July 7.

Matheus Cunha will be involved after completing a £62.5m move from Wolves at the start of June.

Sales are just as important for Amorim after one of the worst seasons in United's storied history. The wheels are in motion.

Jadon Sancho appears to be at the centre of a transfer tug of war between Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli.

That said, Fenerbahce have reportedly entered the frame by offering Sancho a more lucrative contract than both Italian outfits. His future could be resolved soon.

Barcelona are also targeting a loan swoop for Marcus Rashford, despite their priority to seal a deal for Athletic Club winger Nico Williams.

Rashford has made no secret of his desire to land at the Nou Camp, so any agreement would likely be struck quickly. Whether United would accept another loan remains to be seen.

The Red Devils are also preparing to offload Alejandro Garnacho quickly. The Athletic report that the 20-year-old's suitors have been informed that his asking price is £70m.

With a host of European heavyweights circling, the battle for his signature could commence at the start of next month.

But the most advanced exit of all is believed to be Antony. Real Betis are pushing to sign the Brazilian permanently after his successful loan spell last season.

The La Liga outfit are about to sell Johnny Cardoso to Atletico Madrid for £26m, which they could put towards luring Antony back to Seville.

United have placed the four attackers front and centre of the Old Trafford shop window this summer.

Given the importance of their sales in terms of the club's ability to sign more players for Amorim, they will be keen to oversee those deals as soon as possible.

It could well be the calm before the storm.
