Newcastle United ace Tino Livramento is set to feature for England in tonight’s under-21s Euros semi-final.
Tino Livramento is set for the biggest test of his international career yet when England under-21s face the Netherlands tonight.
Newcastle United supporters have watched on as Eddie Howe developed a promising star - fresh off a year-long ACL recovery - into a senior Three Lions international. It was under-21s boss Lee Carsley who rewarded Livramento his sold senior cap against the Republic of Ireland last year.
Thomas Tuchel soon arrived as permanent manager and is yet to give the Toon ace a chance to shine. That is despite Livramento starring for the Magpies as they won the Carabao Cup and secured Champions League qualification.
Speaking earlier this month, Tuchel noted how Livramento would be better served by featuring at the under-21s Euros in Slovakia. England coasted past Spain 3-1 at the weekend, with Livramento playing the full game and former Newcastle youngster Elliot Anderson getting on the scoresheet.
Anthony Gordon’s under-21s trick
Two years ago, a Three Lions outfit managed by Carsley went all the way - defeating Spain 1-0 in Georgia. Toon fans will remember Anthony Gordon winning Player of the Tournament before enjoying a stellar campaign at St James' Park.
Livramento is aiming to use the under-21s Euros as a platform for a successful career with the senior squad having pinned down a first-team spot at Newcastle. England will face the Netherlands at 5pm tonight aiming to book a spot in Saturday’s final.
Lee Carsley on England coaching
Carsley has opened up about his coaching methods ahead of tonight’s semi-final. He said at his press conference: “The skill of a coach is making sure you get the best out of the players that you’ve got in front of you, not trying to make them something that they’re not,” Carsley said. “I think we’ve done quite well in that.
“We’ve tried to put them in positions where they can be really effective, whether that be with or without the ball. Ideally, and I’ve spoken to the players about it, you want to coach a team where you’re watching the team play and you’re enjoying watching them.
“And that Spain game and the second half of the Germany game, you’re on the side, enjoying watching the players play and expressing themselves. You want foreign journalists to speak about our players the way that we sometimes speak about their players in terms of their technical ability or the way that they can take the ball. I think we’re definitely changing that perception of English players.”

Tino Livramento on Newcastle United future
Livramento - valued at £70million - deflected questions about his Newcastle future last week amid reports linking him with Manchester City. He said: "The manager (Eddie Howe… I'm in constant contact with him. He has just said to keep focusing on what you're doing now and you're doing so well.
"So I think having that relationship with someone that is obviously such a big figure in what I've done so far is an amazing thing for me. I'm very much focused on what I'm doing here now. I don't know anything about that (City interest).
“Being away with the under-21s is my main priority. I like to stay in the moment and just focus on what I can do to help the team now."
