Kristaps Porzingis Sends Message To Celtics, Fans After Trade

Kristaps Porzingis appreciated the opportunity he received with the Boston Celtics.

Unfortunately for both the big man and the organization, though, his tenure with the franchise reportedly ended when the Celtics traded Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night. It was a strictly a financial decision with Boston acquiring Georges Niang and a second-round pick in the three-team deal, which also included the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Porzingis took to social media Wednesday morning to share a message to the Celtics and their fans.

“Boston will always be special in my heart,” Porzingis wrote. “Huge thank you to the organization, coaches, staff, my teammates and the fans! Class organization. Forever grateful.”

Porzingis is set to enter his final season under contract. He’ll become an unrestricted free agent following the 2025-26 campaign, so perhaps a return to Boston is in the cards should the Green get their finances in order.
