The 44-year-old Warren lives down in Texas, where he’s been working his way up the coaching ranks. In January, Warren took a job as the defensive line coach and defensive run game coordinator at Rice.

The two-time Patriots champ got his first coaching gig in 2019 as a volunteer assistant for the Detroit Lions. The following year, he was a Bill Walsh Diversity coaching fellow in Detroit.

He then started to bounce around as a defensive line coach, first with the USFL’s Houston Gamblers in 2022 before working as a coaching intern with the New Orleans Saints.

In 2023, he was hired as the D-line coach for the XFL’s Orlando Guardians. Later that year, he was hired at Stephen F. Austin. During his two seasons with the Lumberjacks, Warren worked as a defensive line assistant, defensive run game coordinator and assistant head coach.

After retiring from the NFL in 2013, Warren worked in multiple fields before getting into coaching. He spent seven years working in real estate, running his own property management company around Bryan and College Station.

Warren was often tasked with the dirty work of the 3-4 defense, eating up blockers up front to free up linebackers. That meant he rarely produced eye-popping stats. However, He was a fundamental part of New England’s defense for most of the decade.

Warren’s career took a turn during training camp in 2010, when he suffered a season-ending hip injury. He was released by New England the following summer.

Shortly after he was cut by the Patriots, Warren signed with the Broncos. However, he ended up missing that whole season due to a torn triceps.

Warren returned to the field in Week 1 of the 2023 season with the Broncos. After making one tackle in that game, Warren tore his triceps again. That marked Warren’s last appearance in an NFL game.
