Man Utd 'schedule crunch phone call' today to push through £17m transfer

Manchester United are reportedly set to hold direct discussions with Juventus today, as the Italian club joins Fenerbahce in pursuing Jadon Sancho. The Red Devils are keen to offload Sancho and could potentially increase their asking price by pitting the two interested parties against each other.

Sancho was initially expected to make a permanent move to Chelsea after spending the season on loan there. However, the Blues declined the opportunity to sign him permanently, opting to pay a £5million fee instead of their £25m buy obligation.

This decision came as a blow, especially considering Sancho is not part of Ruben Amorim's plans and his hefty £300,000-a-week wages are straining the club's finances.

Despite this setback, Fenerbahce and Juventus have emerged as serious contenders for the 25-year-old winger.

Reports from Turkish media on Tuesday suggested that Sancho has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce for a summer transfer.

While Napoli were reportedly deterred by his wage demands, Jose Mourinho's side are prepared to offer him a deal worth £8.5m per year.

It's claimed that United are ready to sell the winger, who cost them £73m in 2021, for just £17m due to his contract expiring in a year.

Now it appears that Juventus are gearing up to beat Fenerbahce for Sancho's signature.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus officials are set to hold a video conference with their United counterparts today in a bid to strike a deal.

The Old Lady are on the hunt for a winger, and general manager Damien Comolli is prepared to propose player swaps.

Juventus are reportedly open to offering either striker Dusan Vlahovic or midfielder Douglas Luiz to United.

Vlahovic, who earns £215,000 per week, could be offloaded by Juve in an effort to trim their wage bill.

United would certainly entertain negotiations for Sancho, who has been a significant disappointment since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund four years ago.

Despite scoring just 12 goals and providing six assists in 83 games for United, the winger still holds a strong reputation elsewhere.

Last season, he contributed five goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, aiding them in securing the Conference League title.

It was only his alleged wage demands that thwarted a permanent move to West London.

United need to offload Sancho, along with players like Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho, to fund a squad overhaul under Amorim.

They have already splurged £62.5m on Matheus Cunha and have tabled an offer exceeding £60m to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
