Manchester United have officially appointed Will Carvalho marking another chance to the staffing at Old Trafford under the reign of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Since taking charge of the operations at United, the INEOS regime has seen two sets of coaching staff be assembled, headed by two different managers, as well as a complete change in the club’s directors with a significant number leaving their posts.

Two of the biggest departures under the INEOS reign have been the leaving of the club’s head scout Steve Brown and head of operations, Jackie Kay.

The pair have also been joined in departing the club by Richard Hawkins, the director of football insights and innovations, and David Harrison, the director of football operations.

As the list continued to grow, the trio of Annie Hale, director of people and transformation, James Holroyd, commercial development officer, and Florence Lafaye, a London-based commercial director have also left the club.

The most recent member of staff to leave was head of performance analysis Paul Brand, with the director of partnerships Liam MacManus also having left.

Now, Carvalho’s appointment makes a nice change to the ever growing list of departures, with few new appointments named as of yet to fill the voids.

However, Will Carvalho has now been appointed as the club’s new Head Performance Chef at Carrington.

The chef has confirmed on LinkedIn that he’s leaving Brighton and Hove Albion to join The Red Devils.

Carvalho has been with Brighton for the past two seasons, but is now set to replace Omar Meziane who left Old Trafford in October 2024.

Prior to joining Brighton, Carvalho has been a Performance Chef for the Brazil’s women’s team for a 12 year period, as well as with Gloucester’s rugby union side for eight years and Scottish Rugby for a year and a half.

In an interview with The Argus, as reported by Training Ground Guru, Carvalho discussed his new role, saying: “It’s a new challenge, a next step in my career. Timing and opportunity don’t always align but I am massively grateful for my time at Brighton.”

The performance chef also took to Instagram, showing a tattoo of Brighton’s seagull emblem, commenting: “Sad to leave this team and staff and my catering team, some huge legacy stays behind. Love you all!”

It’s understood that Carvalho will be starting his new role next month ahead of the pre-season where he’ll be focusing on United’s men’s team.
