According to Le Parisien, Wembanyama will not be included in the preliminary roster for EuroBasket, as he focuses on his recovery for the upcoming NBA season following a blood clot diagnosis in his shoulder that prematurely ended his season shortly after the NBA All-Star Weekend.
Wembanyama’s absence is another blow to France’s EuroBasket hopes, as L’Équipe recently announced that star center Rudy Gobert has officially withdrawn from the tournament.
EuroBasket 2025 will take place from August 27 to September 14 in Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia.
France will play in Group D in Katowice, Poland, where they'll take on the hosts Poland, Iceland, Belgium, Israel, and Slovenia.
