Jaxson Dart, newly drafted quarterback for the New York Giants, should be the starter for the team in the 2025 NFL season and not veteran QB Russell Wilson, according to retired NFL player and sportscaster Mark Schlereth. In his latest appearance on Breakfast Ball, Schlereth advised the Giants to ensure that Dart is their starting quarterback in the upcoming football year and deal with the challenges that might come with playing a rookie quarterback.
Dart was bagged by the Giants in the very first round of the draft and is definitely an impressive player. In his senior year with the Ole Miss Rebels, the young quarterback threw for a total of 4,279 yards, scoring 29 touchdowns for the team.
“The Giants should cut Russell Wilson and start Jaxson Dart. You start your rookie and you go with the growing pains and you understand that you’re not going to the playoffs right now. You do have a great defense, which is one of the best things you can give a young quarterback. I think it’s just time to rip off the Band-Aid and say, ‘Jaxson Dart, you’re our guy.'” Mark Schlereth spoke about Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants in the latest episode of ‘Breakfast Ball’.

It is actually understandable as to why the New York Giants would settle for a safer quarterback Russell Wilson, especially since the veteran can show Dart the ropes in his first season with the team. However, many Giants fans are coming forward to pressure the team to bring in Jaxson Dart as their starting quarterback.

While many are vouching for Jaxson Dart to be the new starting quarterback for the New York Giants in the upcoming NFL season, there are many team fans who are pretty skeptical about this. According to the fans who are against Dart as starting quarterback, the rookie has plenty of things to learn and requires time to develop his skills.

Even if Russell Wilson may not be churning out massive numbers, he is definitely a dependable player. The quarterback has been in the league since 2012 and has won one Super Bowl ring in his career so far. According to recent reports from the team, Wilson is the man for the Giants, at least in the first few weeks of the 2025 NFL season.
