The first round of the 2025 NBA Draft is tonight since the league decided to split it into a two day event last year. The Charlotte Hornets enter the evening with the fourth pick, but that’s subject to change, especially given how much movement has already happened.
The Hornets own the number four pick. Teams are given five minutes to make their selections. Given that there will be a few minutes for introductions and things to start the draft coverage, the Hornets will probably make their pick sometime between 8:15 and 8:20.
There’s been a lot of moving and shaking in the league in the days leading up to this point. The Suns traded Kevin Durant to the Rockets for their own 10th pick in this draft, Jalen Green, and Dillon Brooks. The Celtics have started purging veterans, moving Jrue Holiday to the Blazers and Kristaps Porzingis to the Hawks. The Nets got in on that trade and now have five first round picks. You have to assume they have some sort of plan with those that’s not simply picking five first round rookies to add to the roster.
