Desperate Gyokeres makes Liverpool pitch as he waits Arsenal bid

According to Correio da Manha, Liverpool have entered the race for Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres.

Darwin Nunez is closing in on a move to Napoli and the Reds are said to be eager to replace him with Gyokeres.

While Liverpool will likely be in the market for a striker, the latest transfer rumours look to be agent-driven as the Sweden international has been desperate to seal a move to Arsenal this summer.

He has reportedly called Sporting president Frederico Varandas recently to inform him that he doesn’t intend to return and play at the Portuguese club next season.

By speaking to Liverpool about his client, the agent is pushing Arsenal to pay what Sporting have been demanding for an exit.

Gyokeres has been angry with his club as he believes he had a gentleman’s agreement to leave the Green and Whites for a fee worth €70 million.

But Sporting have been adamant the centre-forward can only leave if their €80m valuation is met.

Arsenal have submitted an informal bid worth €65m, but they have no plans on meeting the Primeira Liga club’s high valuation.

The Gunners have been in the market for a new striker, having struggled in 2024-25 after lengthy injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

If a move doesn’t materialise for Gyokeres, they may turn their attention to RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. Although the finances involved in a deal for the Slovenian is also expected to be high.
