Ruben Amorim's already let £45m Man Utd target know his stance after he snubbed club orders

Manchester United have been linked with Fiorentina striker Moise Kean but Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim might be concerned by one incident from the player's time at Everton

Ruben Amorim’s clear stance on Manchester United rebels has already sent a clear message out to Red Devils target Moise Kean ahead of a potential move.

Rumours have surfaced this week linking the Fiorentina striker with United, who are looking to bolster their forward options in the summer transfer window. Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Kean has a £44.5million buyout clause in his Fiorentina contract, which will be activated between July 1 and 15.

That means, despite having four years left on his contract, the club would be obliged to let him go if another team triggers the clause during next month's brief window. That is, of course, assuming he fancies a move to Old Trafford.

A 15th-place finish in the Premier League and defeat in the Europa League final certainly dented their transfer appeal. It would also be somewhat of a shock transfer considering Kean's previous failed stint in England's top tier.

The 25-year-old was underwhelming for Everton following his 2019 transfer, scoring just twice in 29 league matches in his first season. The next three seasons saw him loaned out to Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, where he eventually signed a permanent deal two years ago.

During his spell at Goodison Park, Kean became embroiled in controversy after throwing a party at his home during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020. Having been caught on camera enjoying the party, he was fined two weeks' wages, which amounted to roughly £160,000.

The incident reportedly left Everton chiefs "appalled" due to the breach of Covid-19 rules. And given Amorim’s reputation as a disciplinarian, there may be some alarm bells ringing in his head ahead of a potential transfer.

Amorim has proven in his short time at United that he has zero tolerance for a lack of discipline, having taken a firm stance against several players who appear to be on their way out of Carrington.

Marcus Rashford was frozen out of the squad after falling out with Amorim ahead of last December’s Manchester Derby. Alejandro Garnacho was also dropped for the same fixture for showing dissent towards the head coach three days earlier.

Yet, five years have passed since Kean's Everton transgression, and it is possible that he has matured in that time.

He certainly seems to have found form, having netted 25 goals in 44 games across all competitions for Fiorentina since his move last summer. Kean contributed heavily to them securing sixth place in Serie A as well as a place in the Europa Conference League next season.

United, meanwhile, have boosted Amorim's forward line by bringing in Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m. The 26-year-old Brazilian committed to a four-year deal at Old Trafford, kicking off what is expected to be a busy transfer window.

Amid the recent links with Kean, Amorim’s current strikers are Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. The pair only managed to score 17 goals between them last season in all competitions.
