With Darwin Nunez nearing the exit door, the Reds are exploring new options to lead their line. The Swedish striker is now in the frame as a serious target.
Nunez, who arrived in 2022 with plenty of buzz, has struggled for form and consistency. Despite moments that got Anfield buzzing, the goals haven’t flowed like they hoped.
Napoli looks to be his next stop, with reports suggesting a deal worth around €50 million is in the works.
That’s left Liverpool looking for fresh firepower. According to Correio da Manha, they are now considering Gyokeres — and even preparing to beat Arsenal to his signature.
The Gunners have been in the front seat for weeks, but Liverpool are ready to hit the gas.

Why Liverpool wants Viktor Gyokeres?
Gyokeres was one of Europe’s top scorers last season. He’s already told Sporting that he wants to leave this summer. With a release clause of €80 million, he won’t come cheap — but Liverpool’s interest is real.
He’s said “no” to Manchester United in the past, turning down the chance to reunite with his old boss Ruben Amorim. That shows he’s picky about his next move — and it’s clear he wants Premier League football.
With Luis Díaz also linked with a switch to Barcelona, Liverpool might find themselves with both cash and a need for reinforcements. And after splashing out on Florian Wirtz, they’ll want a striker who can hit the ground running — and keep the Kop singing.
It’s still early days, but Liverpool’s growing interest in Gyokeres could make things very interesting in the summer window. Arsenal may have had the early lead, but this transfer race isn’t over — not by a long shot.
