Kings Reportedly Making Unexpected Trade Candidate Available Ahead of NBA Draft

The Sacramento Kings do not currently possess a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. One way of fixing that fact could be the surprising availability of an unexpected name.

There have been plenty of rumors this offseason about the likes of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and even Malik Monk being available. However, the latest report would indicate that no one on the roster is really safe.

New general manager Scott Perry took over this offseason. The front office executive is clearly wasting no time in attempting to make his mark on the team.

Jake Fischer dropped another round of NBA intel on Tuesday night. With NBA Draft Eve on the schedule, there were plenty of insightful reports on the inner workings of the league. The Kings featured a prominent spot in that roundup.

Fischer explained that last season's first-round selection, Devin Carter, was being added to the list of players available in Sacramento. The NBA insider also added a key scenario to keep an eye on.

"It also known that the Kings are inviting offers for guards Malik Monk and Devin Carter," Fischer wrote.

The insider continued:

"It might be worth filing away that Utah, league sources say, previously showed interest in Carter when the [Utah] Jazz engaged the Kings on Lauri Markkanen trade concepts during the 2024 offseason.

Markkanen ultimately sign a contract extension with Utah last August that delayed until it guaranteed he would not be trade-eligible during the 2024-25 season. The Jazz hold the No. 21 overall pick Wednesday night, which is right in the range of Sacramento's presumed trade ambitions."

Fischer put a lot of focus onto the fact that Sacramento will be trying to maneuver into the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft. If one season of Carter is enough for them to move on, the pathway is there according to Fischer.
