Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca recently spoke about their young superstar. The player is highly rated by the club fans. The Italian said that the youngster needs to understand how they operate.
Chelsea have progressed in quarter finals of Club World Cup. They started the tournament with some new names. One of them was signed way earlier but was sent on loans. He returned to the Stamford Bridge this summer and Maresca included him in the CWC squad.
The star in question here is Andrey Santos. He is 21 year old Brazilian star who plays as midfielder. Chelsea signed him in January 2023 after which he was sent on multiple loans. Recently, he was on season long loan at Strasbourg where he impressed everyone.
Santos played 34 games in 2024/25 season for Strasbourg. He featured as both central and holding midfielder. The Brazilian was also able to score 11 goals and pick 4 assists to showcase his attacking skills. Now, he is back at West London and is now likely to stay.

Recently, Santos played for Chelsea against Esperance. He came on as a substitute and played a very good cameo. Later, he was praised by fans who are willing to see him on pitch more often. Maresca said that the 21 year old needs to understand how they play which is same for all new players.

Santos played only 22 minutes but that were enough for him to pick an assist. He had 94% passing accuracy. Santos created 1 chance and had 1 pass in final third. He took 1 shot but it was blocked. Lastly, he was able to make 1 tackle and win 2 ground duels. All stats as per FOTMOB.
Santos is expected to play key role for Maresca next season. Firstly, he will be a key backup for Moises Caicedo. In addition, he can be handed more creative role like Enzo Fernandez. Lastly, the 21 year old will add more depth to the midfield and makes Blues very strong.
