Arena Napoli have confirmed that Napoli were very interested in signing Alejandro Garnacho in January, with manager Antonio Conte personally approving the move.

However, despite mutual interest, the move never materialised — and now the reason has become clear.
Napoli backed out after deeming Manchester United’s demands for Garnacho excessive, with the Premier League side reportedly asking for a fee well in excess of €60 million.

Given Garnacho’s inconsistent performances and limited end product last season, Napoli ultimately felt the valuation didn’t match the risk.
In hindsight, Napoli’s decision appears vindicated.
Garnacho’s form declined in the latter stages of the campaign, and his current market value is said to be significantly lower than it was during the winter window.
While United opted to keep hold of him in January, the door remains slightly ajar this summer — particularly if Amorim sees other wide players better suited to his system.
