Darwin Nunez time at Liverpool looks to be coming to a close. According to reports, the striker has agreed to join Italian side Napoli, with only the final touches left on the deal.
The 25-year-old has struggled to find consistent form at Anfield since his arrival from Benfica. After a challenging 2024-25 season, where he found himself on the bench more often than the scoresheet, Liverpool appears ready to move on.
Despite lifting the Premier League title under new boss Arne Slot, Nunez only managed seven league goals. That dip in form has opened the door for a fresh start — and Naples is calling.
Former Uruguay teammate Walter Gargano recently told Kiss Kiss Napoli, “He told me: ‘Yes, I’ll come to Naples right away. I’m waiting to close with Naples.’” That statement has added fuel to what already looked like a done deal.
Napoli, led by Antonio Conte, are building something big. Kevin De Bruyne has already joined their midfield, and Nunez is expected to lead the line as they prepare to defend their Serie A crown.

Italian journalist Gerardo Fasano (via LFC Transfer Room) reports that Liverpool and Napoli have agreed on a deal worth around £38.4 million, with an additional £4.2 million in performance bonuses. Nunez will sign a three-year contract with an option for a fourth.
While the Reds take a hit compared to the original fee paid to Benfica, they seem ready to reinvest quickly.
Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres and Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike are among those linked as potential replacements. Florian Wirtz has already joined in a British-record move, giving Liverpool’s attack a new look for next season.
