Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a move for Fiorentina striker Moise Kean, who has a £44.5million release clause in his contract. The Reds are said to be keen on bolstering their attacking options and have identified the 25-year-old as a potential target.

According to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kean's release clause becomes active between July 1 and 15. This means that despite having four years left on his deal, Fiorentina would be obliged to let him go if another club activates the clause during this short window.

However, it remains to be seen whether Kean would be interested in a move to Old Trafford, especially given United's disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League this season. Despite their league struggles, they did manage to reach the Europa League final under manager Ruben Amorim.

Kean's previous stint in the English top flight was less than successful. He joined Everton in 2019 but managed to score just twice in 29 league appearances in his debut campaign.

He subsequently spent three seasons on loan at Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, before making a permanent move to the latter two years ago, reports the Mirror.

During his time at Everton, Kean also courted controversy by hosting a party at his home during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020.

After being filmed enjoying himself at the gathering, he was fined two weeks' wages, which amounted to around £160,000.

Everton chiefs were reportedly "appalled" following a breach of Covid-19 guidelines, an incident that could spark concerns for strict disciplinarian and Manchester United manager Amorim when considering a potential transfer.

Amorim, known for his no-nonsense approach at United, has already demonstrated he won't tolerate indiscipline, as seen with his decisive action against players stepping out of line at Carrington.

Marcus Rashford found himself out of the squad after a row with Amorim prior to last December's Manchester Derby, while Alejandro Garnacho was sidelined for the same match after showing disrespect to the head coach.

Although Kean's indiscretion during his Everton stint was five years ago, there is a possibility the player has since matured, evidenced by an impressive term with Fiorentina, netting 25 goals in 44 matches in all competitions and securing a respectable Serie A position.

Adding to United's attack, Matheus Cunha recently completed a substantial £62.5m switch from Wolves, penning a four-year contract as part of what promises to be a bustling transfer window for Amorim's squad.

With existing forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee only amassing 17 goals between them this past season, the links to Kean unmasks the lingering quest for striking prowess within United's ranks.
