After Aarons and Coady: Rangers want to bring “exceptional” defender to Ibrox - report

Rangers are eyeing a move to sign Liverpool sensation Owen Beck permanently this summer, according to DaveOCKop.

The Ibrox club are looking to strengthen their squad this summer after a disappointing campaign in 2024/25 that saw them finish behind fierce rivals Celtic once again, while manager Philippe Clement was sacked.

Russell Martin has now come in as the new man in charge and is eyeing a move to raid the Premier League to bolster the squad, with Liverpool youngster Beck now emerging as a top target.

Rangers Want to Sign Beck Permanently

Liverpool want him to sign a new deal and go on loan

Owen Beck Liverpool

Beck, who has been described as "exceptional" by Blackburn boss John Eustace, spent last season on loan in the Championship with Rovers and turned in some excellent performances as they narrowly missed out on a spot in the playoffs.

The left-back has attracted attention from Championship outfits Wrexham and Sheffield United as a result, but Rangers are also showing an interest and they are considering making an offer to sign him permanently rather than on loan.

Liverpool would prefer the 22-year-old to sign a new contract at Anfield and go on loan once more, which Beck would be open to doing, however, Rangers' interest has thrown a spanner in the works.

It remains to be seen how much the Premier League champions would ask for to let him leave, but Rangers are keen to add to their defence this summer after a shaky campaign.

Max Aarons has already joined the club on a season-long loan, while Conor Coady is in advanced talks to make the switch to Glasgow after being relegated with Leicester City. Veteran defender Leon Balogun was released at the end of his contract, while there is speculation Ridvan Yilmaz and Robin Propper could leave too.

It's believed Rangers, Liverpool and Beck will make their decision in the coming weeks about the next steps, but we could well be seeing the young defender wearing light blue next season.
