'I want to show people': Newcastle star speaks as club confirm update

Newcastle United have confirmed Lewis Hall is making good progress on his return from a foot injury in a major boost ahead of pre-season.

Hall underwent foot surgery in March and duly missed the Carabao Cup final, which proved a cruel blow for the Newcastle United defender.

Obviously, Newcastle went on to win the Carabao Cup without him, but it was unfortunate that one of their best players missed the historic afternoon at Wembley.

After a difficult first season at the club, Hall established himself as one of Eddie Howe’s best players and even broke into the England team last season.

Thankfully, he looks like he’s getting set to make his return in pre-season.

Newcastle United confirm Lewis Hall injury update

On Wednesday, the club confirmed that the 20-year-old had stepped up in his recovery from the injury.

The left-back has spent a lot of the summer working with the medical team at the Newcastle United training ground.

Such has been his progress of late, there’s now an expectation that he’ll resume light ball work imminently, having recently been outside running.

Speaking to Newcastle United’s official website, Hall said of his injury: “It makes me want to come back and sort of prove a point again, and show everyone what I can bring back to the team. I want to show people what I was doing before I was injured and, if anything, come back a better, stronger player for it.”

Lewis Hall has proved Paul Mitchell so wrong

Outgoing sporting director Paul Mitchell thinks Newcastle overpaid for Hall.

Newcastle spent £35million to sign Hall from Chelsea in 2023, with the defender initially arriving on loan before a deal was made permanent in the summer of 2024.

Though he did struggle in his first few months on Tyneside, Hall is now one of Newcastle’s best players.

He looks set for a bright future both for the club and on the international stage. With England’s options limited at left-back, there’s every chance he could feature for the Three Lions in the run-up to the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
