Angus Kinnear is starting to show why Everton hired him as new developments emerge on Thierno Barry.

David Moyes is in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to depart at the end of his contract and Beto attracting interest from Leeds.

Barry has been identified as the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit’s preferred target and is currently starring at the Under-21 European Championships for France.

The 22-year-old fits the profile of what Moyes is looking for in a new forward and could make the move to Merseyside this summer if Kinnear can get a deal over the line quickly.

Everton to seal Barry signing imminently

Everton have already seen a £25.4million bid for Barry rejected by Villareal as they try to seal a deal for the promising striker.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Foot Mercato journalist Santi Arouna reported via X on Wednesday (25 June) that the Blues are confident of completing the deal in the coming days.

His report states that the Toffees want to negotiate to lower the £40m release clause in his contract with the Spanish side, which would still land them a major profit on the £11.9m that they paid for him a year ago.

Kinnear shows Everton magic amid Barry update

Kinnear came to the Blues with a stellar reputation after his spell as Leeds chief and he is starting to justify that status.

The Friedkin Group have already seen the sporting structure on Merseyside completely restructured, which has been led by the Englishman with the likes of James Smith coming from Manchester City and Neil Cox from Manchester United.

Now, he is starting to make an impact in the transfer market and if he can reduce the Yellow Submarine’s demands for the attacker who scored 11 goals and notched four assists last season, it would be nothing short of a masterclass given the competition for him.

Barry would be a brilliant signing for the Blues, as he is a pacy striker who is strong in the air and can carry the ball, and if the ex-Whites man can steal a march on Premier League rivals and secure a cut-price transfer, it would be a sign of Kinnear’s magic already working wonders.
