Liverpool are in the market for some new faces this summer ahead of next season

Liverpool’s decision to appoint Arne Slot as their manager last summer has turned out to be a masterstroke. He had big shoes to fill after taking over from Jurgen Klopp. The Dutchman, who has previously managed Feyenoord, has adapted well to life in England.

Slot managed to win the Premier League title at the first time of asking. He will now want to do the same again in the next campaign. The likes of Arsenal and Manchester City are expected to come back stronger though so the Reds needs to be prepared.

Liverpool targeting bold swoop for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo

Liverpool are keen on an ambitious move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, according to reporter Ben Jacobs. They aren’t the only team in for the frame for him though. The Evening Standard has reported that rivals Arsenal are also suitors for the £77million-rated hotshot.

Rodrygo, 24, may well leave his current club for a new challenge somewhere and it isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that he could test himself in England based on the latest rumours. If he were to leave Spain, he would have a big decision to make on where he wants to go next in his career. He must pick a team where he is guaranteed regular first-team football.

The Brazil international, who has made 33 caps for his country, would be ideal for Liverpool. He would inject a lot of quality into their ranks and landing his signature would be a massive statement of intent. It would make other teams like Arsenal and City stand up and take notice.

The Reds can’t afford to stand still and must continue to freshen things up. Rodrygo could battle it out with the likes of Mo Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz for a place in their starting XI. He would give them another strong option to pick from on the wing which is what they need as they continue to juggle their domestic duties with the Champions League.

Rodrygo started out at Santos and rose up through their academy ranks. He was a regular for the Brazilian club at various different youth levels as a youngster. The attacker broke into their first-team in 2017 and went on to make 80 appearance in all competitions, finding the net on 17 occasions, before he moved over to Europe.

Real Madrid snapped him up in 2019 and he hasn’t looked back since. He has scored 68 goals in 267 matches for the Spanish giants, 14 of which have come this term. The forward has also won everything so may fancy a change of scene now. Merseyside could be the perfect setting for him to showcase his talents and reinvigorate his career.

Liverpool should offer Ibrahima Konate in return

Real Madrid are interested in a £40million swoop for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, according to CaughtOffside. His contract is up next year so his long-term future is up in the air. The Reds risk losing him for free in June 2026 if they don’t cash in on him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t pen an extension anytime soon.

It would be a shame to lose Konate but like Trent Alexander-Arnold, his head may be turned by the opportunity to play under Xabi Alonso. If he did go, the Reds would need to find a replacement for him in defence. They could do with bringing in a younger option to compete with Virgil van Dijk and that is something that may well be on the agenda.

In an attempt to try and lure Rodrygo away from Real Madrid, Liverpool could offer Konate in return as part of a swap deal arrangement. That means that both teams would benefit from the transaction and neither would be left worse off. Slot would land a key attacking target, whilst Alonso would significantly strengthen his back-line.

It has been a busy summer already for the Reds and they are showing no signs of slowing down just yet. They have landed Bayer Leverkusen pair Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz to bolster their squad. These are exciting times to be associated with the club and they are eyeing more silverware to add to their trophy cabinet down the line.
