Nicolas Jover has made quite the impact at Arsenal since arriving from Manchester City in 2021.
The man born in Germany has turned Arsenal into a real force from dead ball situations, with the Gunners scoring 48 corners since he joined Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium – more than any other Premier League side.
Now, Arsenal are trying to complete a signing who could help open up new doors for Jover in Brentford No.6 Christian Norgaard.
Why Nicolas Jover will love Christian Norgaard
It was Fabrizio Romano who claimed that Arsenal have submitted a £9m bid for Norgaard, and the Dane is keen on a move to north London.
Should a deal materialise, the 31-year-old could provide Jover with many fresh ideas.
Norgaard was heavily involved in many creative set plays under Thomas Frank at Brentford, specifically when it comes to throw-ins, where the Denmark international would often time his runs to perfection to get on the end of launches into the box, as he did against Arsenal back in August 2021.
Jover was even left furious by one smart play from Brentford back in March 2024.
The Gunners recorded a 2-1 win over the Bees, but nearly went 2-1 down themselves in the 71st minute when Brentford pretended to prepare for a long throw into the box, which led Arsenal to put every man in the box, but instead went short, enabling time for a precise cross to be delivered, from which Nathan Collins almost scored from.
So, not only has Norgaard, who admires Martin Odegaard, been directly involved in creative set plays during his six years at Brentford, but he would have also learned plenty from Frank on the training pitch, information he could soon share with Jover and make Arsenal even more of a threat from dead-ball situations.
What Thomas Frank has previously said about Nicolas Jover as link emerges
Norgaard, who Gabriel Martinelli criticised last season, could well be a genuine student of the set play game, as Brentford were also well-versed in that department.
“I called him the most annoying guy in football!” 😬
“And I’m doubling down…” 😎

Jover actually worked with Frank at Brentford for a season before joining Manchester City in July 2019, making a strong impression on the Dane.
Frank has previously said: “Nicolas is a very good coach… if you look at the details of every single set-piece, it’s incredible.”
If Arsenal can now add a forward thinker in Norgaard to the squad, the creative ideas generated between him and Jover could well bring a new dimension to the Emirates Stadium.
