“We totally support Noa going to the draft!! It’s a special moment you can never get back. And our main goal as a organization is to help these young players to the NBA,” Hartenstein wrote in Instagram comments.
Essengue, an 18-year-old French forward, left Ulm with a 2–1 lead in the German league finals against FC Bayern Munich to travel to New York for the draft on June 25.
As reported earlier by BasketNews' Donatas Urbonas, Essengue will miss the remainder of the series but was invited to the prestigious Green Room, reserved for top lottery prospects.
He is projected to go No. 9 overall to the Toronto Raptors, per ESPN’s latest mock draft by Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo.
