Harvey Elliott faces a big decision over his Liverpool future
Elliott has already gone on record stating he will consider his future with the Premier League champions after seeing his game time decrease significantly under new head coach Arne Slot last season.
His 28 appearances across all competitions - including six starts - totalling 822 minutes of action was down from 53 appearances across all competitions, totalling 2,786 minutes under Jurgen Klopp in the 2023/2024 campaign.
Already facing a tough battle to break into the team, Elliott’s chances of first-team football next season is likely to be further limited with Liverpool tying up a club-record £116m deal for attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
That said, the 22-year-old offered a reminder of his qualities with a stunning brace to help England U21s overcome Netherlands U21s and reach yet another European Championship final.
Speaking about Elliott’s performance on Channel 4 after the game, Cole believes the midfielder should leave Liverpool this summer, going as far as to map out a career path for the former Fulham youngster.

Asked which club Elliott should join, Cole said: "Anyone outside the top six he comfortably walks in and becomes one of the main players and then once he has two years at that level, he can come back to the very top at a club like Liverpool and compete.
"He left Fulham as a young man. His learning has been spread out, very similar to [Phil] Foden where he was used sparingly over a longer period of time.
"Performing like he has done at this tournament, I think there will be teams all around Europe looking for Harvey Elliott agent's number and thinking maybe he's right for them."
Brighton are reportedly interested in Elliott amid talk they are preparing a £40m bid, but the midfielder’s focus will be on Saturday’s final against either France or Germany.
