Ruben Selles has been involved in Leeds United dealings for the past few months. The Spaniard was in charge of Hull City, and is now Sheffield United boss.
Joe Gelhardt joined the Tigers on loan in January after not getting much playing time at the tail end of 2024. Now Selles could be in the middle of another possible Leeds United deal this summer. Multiple reports believe that Daniel Farke and the Whites will return for a bid for Gus Hamer. Leeds tried to sign the attacking midfielder last summer, but Sheffield United rejected any bids.
Ruben Selles has addressed the future of Gus Hamer on his team this summer:
“He’s a Sheffield United player and I want him to be a Sheffield United player when the market closes,” the Spaniard said. “Obviously I cannot control what happens in the future because the market is so fluid and dynamic.
“But my intention is to keep him as one of our key players. He has been key for us and for the team and if we can keep him that will mean we are in a really powerful place to achieve our target.
Gus Hamer v Brenden Aaronson last season
Hamer remains the favourite to make a move to Elland Road this summer. Brenden Aaronson was decent last season, but many fans and pundits believe he will be replaced in the lineup.

Comparing the two players this past season, it is obvious that Hamer is the more creative player. The attacking midfielder also has the ability to convert low quality shots into goals. Leeds will need that kind of player who can make anything happen, in the Premier League.
