Matt Damon and David Beckham are ready for another round.
The Oscar-winning Cambridge native and soccer legend are back for a new Stella Artois ad, with Damon once again playing Beckham’s fictional, long-lost American brother Dave. The spot picks up after the events of the Stella Artois Super Bowl ad that debuted earlier this year, which was directed by Damon’s good pal Ben Affleck and produced in partnership with their production company, Artists Equity.
In the new commercial, dubbed “The Collection,” Damon’s Dave shows off his sweet garage bar, complete with a shelf of chalices, each paying tribute to a different state.
“I’m one state short of all 50. You want to go to Wyoming?” Damon’s character tells Beckham, who happily agrees to a trip out west.
The chalices featured in the ad are part of the real-life, limited-edition “Fifty States of Stella” collection, which fans bid on through Sunday at 11:59 p.m., among other items. According to a press release, all proceeds from the auction will go to support Water.org, a nonprofit co-founded by Damon that helps provide access to safe water for people who need it across the globe.
Emblazoned with the fictional Dave Beckham’s signature, each “one-of-a-kind” chalice also features state-specific artwork. For Massachusetts, the glassware includes a trio of clams above the logo, as well as the year it became a state, 1788. As for the rest of New England, Rhode Island’s chalice features an anchor; Connecticut’s is a lighthouse; New Hampshire’s includes snowy mountains; Vermont’s has a covered bridge; and, of course, Maine’s version is the state’s beloved lobster.
Fans can next catch Damon and his scraggly beard on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” next month, hosted by the actor’s longtime nemesis Jimmy Kimmel, where he’ll compete for charity alongside “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings.
Outside of commercials and game shows, Damon is set to appear opposite Affleck in the new Netflix thriller “The RIP,” out in January, and also stars in director Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of “The Odyssey”, which is scheduled for release next summer.
