Manchester United want to boost their profits following the latest ticket price hike at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim’s side failed to qualify for European football in the 2024-25 campaign after finishing 15th in the Premier League table.
Man United have announced their matchday prices could reach £97 next season, while the most expensive ticket at Old Trafford for the latest campaign was £66.
The lowest priced ticket for a Premier League game is now £37 for the category C matches against Sunderland and Wolves.
That figure rises to £97 for the highest priced tickets in category A, which includes Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle United.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the ticket prices are part of the club’s private-equity approach to the business.

Responding to the price increase, the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) said: “After how last season went, we might have hoped the club would reconsider their plans for this new ticketing model which will see eye-watering price increases for supporters who buy tickets on a match-by-match basis. This really is a fresh kick in the teeth for Manchester United fans.”
United posted a club-record revenue of £661.8million in 2023-24, but they recorded a net loss of £113.2million.

Man United ticket price verdict shared – ‘there’s a limit’
Borson insisted there is a limit to how much United fans will pay to watch games.
He told Football Insider: “Ticket prices are just another part of this private-equity approach to the football business, to improve the profitability of the organisation.
“Again, we’ll see whether it’ll come down to supply and demand to see whether they’re good enough on the pitch to justify those sorts of prices because ultimately there is a limit to what people will pay to go and see Premier League football when you’re not performing on the field.
“There is a limit to paying for Premier League football when you are not performing on the field. All of those things that we’ve talked about in terms of when the games are going to be will apply to Manchester United.
“Most of them will be on TV. The only slight difference is that there is a little bit more flexibility on Manchester United having games on Saturdays because they’re not in Europe this season. So, they can actually play more games at 3pm on Saturdays because they don’t have any Europe.
“But of course, a lot of their opponents, given that nine teams are in Europe, there is a good chance that anybody that your fixture is against can’t play at 3pm on Saturday, so you’re back to square one.
“The games are going to move around for Manchester United, Manchester City and for everybody else.
“Can United book a lot of these rules that have applied to football over the years in terms of wage bill, number of people in the organisation doing all of the ancillary jobs around non-football and ticket prices.
“Can they justify those sorts of prices for a stadium that’s creaking and a team that’s not winning games? I think it’s unlikely, but we’ll see.”

Man United’s updated stance on Hugo Ekitike bid revealed
In terms of matters on the pitch, Football Insider revealed on 17 June United are unlikely to pursue a summer deal for Hugo Ekitike despite his form for Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Bundesliga club want close to £85million for the France Under-21 international, and Ruben Amorim’s side can’t afford a deal at that price.
Frankfurt are not in a position where they must sell Ekitike this summer and are able to hold out for that figure.
The 23-year-old registered 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances in the 2024-25 season.
