Leeds United could face huge stumbling block in pursuit of £21M star – unxpected update

Leeds United have bolstered two major areas of the squad in the space of over a week. The club is now focusing on adding some names before pre season.

The first arrival this summer was Lukas Nmecha. The former Wolfsburg man comes in to bolster an attack that did not have much depth last season. Now, Daniel Farke has at least two main options up front. Jaka Bijol will also be a solid addition to the backline, and give the team much needed quality.

Everything has been lined up perfectly for a move. Leeds are willing to pay close to Strasbourg’s £21million valuation, and the French club’s President even admitted that Diarra is a candidate to be sold this summer.

The latest reports coming out of France, hint that there may be some stumbling blocks. According to sources, Diarra wants to move to the Premier League this summer. However, Strasbourg are waiting on UEFA’s decision on Lyon’s Europa League place. The Ligue 1 side could find themselves replacing Lyon, in which case, they would persuade Diarra to stay for next season. As it stands, no concrete decision has been made.

Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation, and more clubs are expected to show interest in the coming weeks.

Club need to stick to their policy this summer

The club’s first two signings have one thing in common. They both have ambition to play for Leeds this season. Nmecha said Daniel Farke convinced him to join, and Bijol said it was his ‘dream’ to play in England. Both players want to be at Leeds United, and they will play for the team.

At this point, Diarra is not someone who desperately wants to move looking at his current options. Leeds need to shift their focus if they do not want another Jack Harrison situation on their hands.
