Mikel Arteta should be really worried after hearing what people at Real Madrid are saying about Rodrygo - opinion

Rodrygo Goes is one of Arsenal’s top targets this summer.

The Real Madrid star has produced several exceptional moments at the Santiago Bernabeu over the years, but he is not at the top of Xabi Alonso’s pecking order.

That has opened the door for Arsenal to try and sign Rodrygo, and fans of the Emirates Stadium club would love him at their club.

However, there is one issue with the Brazilian that will not sit well with Mikel Arteta.

What people at Real Madrid have said about Arsenal target Rodrygo in training

Rodrygo Goes’ talent and ability are unquestionable.

The Brazil international is an incredible player, and he has shown his class against the best sides and on the biggest stages over the years.

However, ability alone won’t cut it under Arteta

The Arsenal manager is extremely demanding in games as well as in training. He wants his players to give absolutely everything every day, but that may not happen with Rodrygo.

The Athletic have revealed that people inside Real Madrid have told them that Rodrygo often lacks motivation during training sessions.

The outlet claimed that multiple sources at the Santiago Bernabeu confidentially told them last season that ‘Rodrygo sometimes lacks for motivation in training’.

“It was those concerns which led to Ancelotti and Rodrygo agreeing that the winger would not be called up to the Italian’s first Brazil squad for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay this month,” The Athletic further wrote.

Mikel Arteta has already revealed what he will do if players don’t train well

Arteta is a disciplinarian, and he has shown that in his five-and-a-half years at Arsenal.

The Spaniard does not accept anything less than 100 per cent, and he made it clear to his players a few years ago that he will send them out if they don’t deliver.

When Arteta tested positive for COVID-19 during his first full season at the club, he watched an Arsenal training session from home, and the Gunners boss was far from happy.

He told his players when he met them next, as shown on Amazon’s All or Nothing documentary: “There is the vast majority of players, who train well. And there is a group of players who just come.

“The training session on Sunday, if I was here, four go out of the session. Four players after 15 minutes, gone! We are not training in the park. We are not in nursery. And we are not here wasting our time.

“Too many players laughing. And the other thing is, complaining. Someone gives a bad pass… complaining. I give a bad pass… it’s his mistake. No!

“We have to raise the level, and it goes for everyone. Every single one, because now, it is in or out. So, every day in training, every single ball!”
