Man United are looking to offload several players this summer, with one of their more promising stars potentially leaving.

It comes after a season where the Red Devils were the fifth-lowest-scoring team in the Premier League. Strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have both struggled; they combined for a total of seven goals in the Premier League last season.

Both have been linked with a move away, with Hojlund the more likely to leave. However, seeing as United signed him for £64m in 2023 from Atalanta, they won’t want to let the 22-year-old leave for cheap this summer, meaning they could be in line for a huge cash boost.

Antonio Conte “personally requested” Rasmus Hojlund

The interest in Hojlund has mostly come from the Serie A so far, with both Napoli and Inter Milan understood to be keen on the Danish international. Napoli are looking for their replacement for Osimhen, who they are set to sell this summer after his loan spell at Turkish side Galatasaray.

The report also says that the striker himself is excited by the prospect of playing for the Italian champions should a move materialise. He is particularly enthusiastic about potentially linking up with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.

It is understood that Man United could be willing to let the 22-year-old leave Old Trafford for a fee of around £38 million, which would be a £24m loss on the £64m that they paid for him two summers ago. The report also states that RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt hold an interest in Hojliund too, potentially looking to replace the likes of Benjamin Sesko, and Ekitike.

Hojlund’s move to Napoli depends on Darwin Nunez’s status

For all that sounds good in terms of United potentially being able to sell Hojlund this summer, there is one stumbling block, and it comes in the form of Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan is expected to leave Anfield this summer after three seasons with the club.

The report also states that Nunez has overtaken Hojlund as Napoli’s first-choice target at the striker position, and so they could decide to prioritise a move for the Liverpool star, before considering a deal for Hojlund.

The biggest issue with Nunez would likely be his wages as far as Napoli is concerned, as he is currently earning over £50,000 per week more than Hojlund is at United. Furthermore, the United striker is four years younger than Nunez, and so has more potential, if that was something that the Italian champions want to prioritise.
