The 25-year-old joined the Turkish giants from Norwich City last summer, and he went on to make 45 appearances last season, scoring two goals and providing 10 assists to go with his overall influence in their midfield.

It seems his form has attracted the attention of Villa, with [Footmercato](https://www.footmercato.net/a1233070757706564008-aston-villa-et-galatasaray-discutent-pour-le-duo-dibu-martinez-lucas-digne) reporting that we’re keen to prise him away from Galatasaray this summer, but it remains to be seen if we’re open to splashing out around €20m in order to secure a deal.
While Sara looks to be a top player, it’s questionable at this stage as to why Villa would be looking at adding further midfield reinforcements given the options already at Unai Emery’s disposal.
Youri Tielemans, Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley are all vying for minutes in our deeper midfield pivot, while there is plenty of competition for places higher up the pitch too and so it doesn’t make a great deal of sense as to why we’d be looking to strengthen that area of the squad with other priorities to address.
Emery also has a decision to make on Enzo Barrenechea’s future after his successful loan spell with Valencia last season, and so unless we’re expecting to lose one of those options and end up being short of competition and depth as we look to compete across multiple fronts again next season, then a move for Sara at this point in the summer transfer window is unlikely to materialise.
Speculation is rife over our potential incomings and outgoings, but with ongoing talk over our financial position in terms of being compliant with PSR ahead of the June 30 deadline, the short-term focus for Villa is surely on player sales, with signings likely to come from July onwards in a bid to strengthen Emery’s options to raise our level of competitiveness and continue our progress next season onwards.
