Dua Lipa wowed her Anfield crowd with a career-first her huge show in Liverpool on Wednesday evening (June 25).

The 29-year-old took to the stage for the final of two Radical Optimism tour shows, sharing a series of touching interactions with fans on the barrier, and then performing her biggest hits.

Dua then addressed the Anfield crowd with a special message for the city as fans became united in an emotional moment.

She said: "Thank you so much for being here. Thank you for your energy. Thank you for your love. Thank you for dancing. Thank you for singing. Thank you for bringing it.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. This is such a dream to be here. Not one night, but two nights in your city, so thank you from the very bottom of my heart.

"It's been a massive dream of mine to one day be able to play here, so thank you for giving me that opportunity. This next song I'm going to sing for you guys, every night on tour I've been doing a different song by a local artist and so I feel like tonight I can't come to Liverpool without doing this song."

The star then began a soulful rendition of Hey Jude by The Beatles, with the crowd joining in and swaying along. As Dua belted out the song's famous outro, fans waved their arms in the air and chanted "NA NA NA NA" along with her, the ECHO reported.

As the song came to an end, Dua said "I love you Liverpool, let me hear you", before an image of the Liverpool FC crest appeared on the screens surrounding the stage.

The popstar enjoys a special bond with the city as Liverpool FC fans have adopted her hit song, One Kiss, as an unofficial club anthem. The pop song has been a regular on the Anfield songbook ever since she performed the pre match show ahead of the 2018 Champions League final. Dua brought the song to its spiritual home once again for another memorable concert in the city tonight.

Dua repeatedly hailed her connection to the city and branded the opportunity to perform in Merseyside as a dream come true towards the end of last night's gig.

She told the crowd: "Thank you for your energy. Thank you for singing with me, thank you for dancing with me. Thank you for your surrendering to this English summer that we've got going on right now.

"What a dream it it is to be here. You've just got to let it be. For the next song I want to feel you guys really close. Let me put all the lights up."

The Liverpool show was a continuation of the Radical Optimism tour, which kicked off at Wembley Stadium for two nights on June 20 and 21.

The singer's Radical Optimism album was released in May last year through Warner Records. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and surpassed one billion streams on Spotify in June 2024.
