Manchester United are closing in on a move for Bryan Mbeumo, bringing the attacker from Brentford to Old Trafford.

United have been linked with Mbeumo for some time, with the Cameroon international being set to become the club’s second major signing after Matheus Cunha.

However, Mbeumo hasn’t only sparked interest from United, with Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur also keen on the star.

Newcastle pulled out of the race due to the 25-year-old’s wage demands of around £250,000 per week being too much for them, however this wasn’t an obstacle for Spurs.

Tottenham were instructed by new manager Thomas Frank to launch a bid for Mbeumo so the attacker would follow Fank from Brentford to Spurs.

However, Mbeumo’s priority has always been Manchester United.

Now, our very own SullyTalkz has reported that the main factor of Mbeumo’s decision to set his heart on an Old Trafford move was in fact Ruben Amorim.

The pair reportedly had multiple calls to get an agreement in place which was reported by CentreDevils earlier as being in place between United, Mbeumo and Brentford.

It’s understood that the turnaround project at Old Trafford being led by Amorim is a key reason for the attacker to join United, wanting to be a part of restoring the club to its former glory.

Now, the 25-year-old is just waiting on Brentford to green light his medical assessment at Carrington.

United’s second bid of £60 million is now understood to be agreed with a further set of add-ons taking the full fee to around £65 million, making it comparable to Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause.

Brentford always saw a deal for Mbeumo as akin to the move Cunha has made, wanting an similar fee as Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to receive.
