Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin wants to get paid. The two-time Pro Bowler is entering the last year of his three-year, $68.3 million deal and is looking for a raise — but contract negotiations with the Commanders aren’t going well.
McLaurin, who will turn 30 in September, is the 16th-highest paid wide receiver, making $23.2 million annually. With contracts for wideouts shooting up dramatically, McLaurin likely wants to be making $30 million-plus per year in his next deal.
McLaurin is a major part of Washington’s offense. Along with quarterback Jayden Daniels, the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year, they led the Commanders to the NFC Championship game where they fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
McLaurin has five straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons and had the most touchdowns of his career in 2024 with 13, becoming Daniels’ favorite target. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the second time and earned second-team All-Pro honors.
McLaurin wants to stay in Washington long-term, but according to Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer, “they have a lot of work to do.”
“I’d expect that work will pick up again when the league comes back from break in a few weeks. But it’s still not in a great place. So we’ll see what happens—there’s plenty of time to get something done,” Breer reports.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported earlier this month that McLaurin was “frustrated with a lack of progress on a long-term deal” and “unexpectedly left voluntary workouts after initially attending.”

The situation could escalate if McLaurin doesn’t report for mandatory minicamp, which begins July 22.
