Washington Wizards fans at watch party cheer on as team picks 6th, 18th in NBA Draft

Washington is hoping for a Wiz of a night during the NBA Draft on Wednesday.

That’s when they have the sixth and 18th picks.

Washington last had the No. 6 pick in 2011 when they picked Czech power forward Jan Veselý.

Last year, the team picked power forward Alex Sarr, point guard Bub Carrington and shooting guard Kyshawn George with three first-round picks.

On Tuesday, the team that finished the 2024 regular season 18-64 and fifth in the Southeast Division traded guard Jordan Poole and wing Saddiq Bey for the New Orleans Pelicans’ veteran guard CJ McCollum and center Kelly Olynyk.

It’s likely that Washington will look for guards with their two first-round picks Wednesday and continue adding to the youth movement that started with the Bradley Beal trade.
