With so many playmakers on the floor, there's no reason the Spurs shouldn't be able to get out and run the break no matter who is in the game. It's time to up the ante and play with more pressure. That's what the Indiana Pacers did. The Oklahoma City Thunder also played at a fast pace. Both teams had the personnel to do it, and now so do the Silver and Black.
Last season, San Antonio ranked 13th in pace while the two teams who made the Finals both sat in the top ten. OKC ranked fifth, and Indy was seventh. They used to say that the game slowed down in the postseason, but those teams showed that while that's still the case, it doesn't have to be by much. They were both top three in pace among the clubs that made it to the final 16 bracket.
What they do after selecting Harper will tell us if they really want to play that style. The rumors have been all over the place, and depending on the rest of the additions, SA has the horses to up the tempo to a similar pace to the teams who made it to the Finals.
Spurs must add players who can run the floor
--------------------------------------------
I want to see the team score in space. Their offense has had a tendency to get bogged down too often. They need to make sure they can get easier shots. Coach Mitch Johnson will have to make sure the half-court offense is up to par, but they can also do that by running the fast break.
Indiana ran at their opponents even when the ball went into the basket. Taking the ball out of the goal and turning it into a fast break opportunity can be frustrating to deal with for the other team. You don't give them a chance to rest as often, so you catch them slipping when they try to take a moment to breathe.
That also means acquiring depth because you need a deep rotation to maintain this style. Carter Bryant, Liam McNeeley, and Thomas Sorber are just a [few of the players they could add](https://airalamo.com/spurs-two-obvious-paths-perfect-nba-draft-night) to help them pull it off, but there are others. We'll find out who else gets added to this team soon enough, and that will tell us a lot about how they want to build this offense.
